External Transcripts
Do you have a transcript from an external, non-Deposely source? Or maybe a video or audio recording of an external deposition?
You can now analyze external testimony with our powerful AI analytical tools from the Review Workspace tab on the Deposition Details page. Simply upload the external testimony directly to Deposely to get started!

Uploading External Transcripts
First, set up your Case and Deposition like you would for a Deposely transcript. See Setting Up Your Case and Preparing Your Deposition. Be sure to complete the “Generating deposition objectives” step when creating the Deposition.
Pro Tip: You don’t have to upload any additional documents beyond the Court Filings i.e. Complaint and Answer.
Next, after Objectives are generated, you’ll see a screen with two Workspace options. Select Go to Review Workspace to upload external audio or video of the external deposition. A pop-up window called “Upload Testimony” will prompt you to upload the audio or video file.
Finally, click “OK” on the Processing Testimony pop-up window.
This automatically brings you into the Deposition Details page where you can track upload progress. Uploads of audio/video typically take 15-20 minutes or less depending on the file size.
After processing is completed, click Review Workspace to access and analyze the external testimony.
This brings you into the Transcript View. You’ll see your audio or video file on the left with the extracted transcript below it.
Click Analyze (top right).
Then, click Analyze on the pop-up window.
Once the external testimony is processed, you’ll have a Comprehensive Summary, which includes transcript Chapters, Page:Line summaries, a Chronology, and Exhibits.
You’ll also get audio playback. Simply hover over the transcript row and click the Play button.
To stop audio playback, click pause on the video player.
Analysis Toolbar
On the right-hand side from top to bottom, you’ll find mini icons for Chapters, Summary, Insights, Outline, Objectives, and Deposely LX Chat (LX Chat). Click on each one to review your results. Note: the Outline section will not be populated for external transcripts.
If you want a copy of your transcript and/or Summary, simply click Download and select your preferred option. Note: exports can only be downloaded in PDF format.
LX Chat with Transcript
Want additional AI insights with LX Chat? Access your AI assistant by clicking the last icon on the right-side Analysis Toolbar.
When the LX Chat pop-up appears, click on New Chat (top left corner).
In the New Chat window, add any previously uploaded Documents from the Case and/or one or more of your Deposely transcripts (i.e. transcripts created from Depositions you conducted in Deposely).

Type in your Question and click the “arrow” button or hit “enter” on your keyboard.
IMPORTANT: Do you have additional deposition testimony that was not transcribed by Deposely and/or it was not analyzed as an External Transcript by Deposely but you want LX Chat to reference its contents?
If so, you must first upload that additional deposition testimony as a Document to your Case from the Case Details page. Then, search for it under Documents (see below) and add it to LX Chat.
